UNICEF x LGF WORLD DIABETES DAY COMMEMORATION
15 NOVEMBER 2025
On 15 November, UNICEF Zimbabwe and the Lili Grace Foundation co-hosted the 2025 World Diabetes Day commemoration in Harare under the theme “Diabetes & Wellbeing.” The event brought together 38 children living with Type 1 diabetes, alongside their parents, healthcare professionals, youth advocates, and community partners for a day dedicated to empowerment, education, and emotional wellbeing.
Throughout the event, families participated in medical and psychosocial sessions, mental health workshops, technology and diabetes education, and breakaway group discussions that addressed real-life challenges faced by children and caregivers. The programme highlighted the importance of holistic care, emotional support, and community connection — reinforcing that children with diabetes are capable, resilient, and never alone.
This collaboration between UNICEF Zimbabwe and LGF created a nurturing, supportive space where children and families felt seen, heard, and encouraged — strengthening the shared commitment to improving the wellbeing and long-term outcomes of young people living with Type 1 diabetes in Zimbabwe.
